The Cyclades are around 30 islands and the coverage concentrates on two. Santorini is a flooded volcanic caldera and genuinely remarkable, and in season it is also as busy as anywhere in Europe. Mykonos is a party island with excellent beaches.
Paros, Antiparos, Naxos, Sifnos and Milos are the ones people who know the Cyclades actually go to. Naxos has mountains, a farming interior and the best beaches in the group. Sifnos has the food. Milos has a coastline of mined volcanic rock that looks like nowhere else in Greece.

Getting There
Paros (PAS), Mykonos (JMK) and Santorini (JTR) all have airports, with Mykonos and Santorini taking the most international traffic. Many groups fly to Athens (ATH) and take the fast ferry from Piraeus or Rafina instead, which is often simpler than a connecting flight in peak season. Check which port your ferry leaves from, because the two are on opposite sides of Athens.
