The Algarve and Comporta are 250km apart and have almost nothing in common. The Algarve is Portugal's southern coast: golf, cliffs, a long-established resort economy in the centre, and a much wilder western end around Sagres where the Atlantic takes over.
Comporta is south of Lisbon on the Troia peninsula, and it is pine, rice paddy and a very long empty beach. It is a different climate, a different landscape and a different crowd.
Decide which of them you actually want. The eastern Algarve around Tavira is the quiet, Spanish-facing end; the west is for wind and surf; the middle is where the infrastructure is.

Getting There
Faro (FAO) serves the whole Algarve and is well connected to the UK. Comporta is reached from Lisbon (LIS), around an hour by car including the bridge, and is not sensibly done from Faro. Do not plan to combine the two without a car and a spare day.
