Every photograph on this site, with the person who took it, the licence it is under, and a link to the original.
Why this page exists
Until August 2026 every destination page on this site opened with a stock photograph that did not show the place it was labelling. That sat badly next to our own guide about how to spot listings that are not what they claim to be.
They are now real photographs of the real places. We did not generate replacements: an image model can produce a convincing Amalfi Coast, and captioning it as the Amalfi Coast would be exactly the thing the books refuse to do.
Everything below is under CC BY, CC BY-SA, CC0 or public domain. We do not use any NC or ND licence, because this site carries affiliate links and the images are cropped.

Other images on this site
The Kalamitsi property photographs are our own, of the house they show. They are colour-corrected and cropped and nothing else.
Book covers are real photographs of the places the books cover. Where a cover uses a Creative Commons photograph, the credit is on that book's own image credits page inside the book.
The part-opening images inside the books are illustrations, generated for those editions. None of them is a photograph and none is captioned as a specific real place, which is why they are labelled as illustrations in each book rather than passed off as documentary.
