About TravelBlis
TravelBlis is an editorial travel guide. We cover the Mediterranean, the Alps, the Caribbean and a few places further afield, and we cover a small number of them properly rather than all of them thinly.
We are not a booking platform. We do not own properties, manage keys or handle cleaning crews. What we do is check things and say where we checked them, which turns out to be rarer than it should be.
What We Do
Cover fewer places, properly. Each destination page is an argument about where to base yourself and when to go, not a directory. Our guidebooks go considerably further, with every venue checked one at a time.
Say what we do not know. Until August 2026 this site carried weekly villa rates, percentage premiums between destinations and staffing levels supposedly typical at a given budget. None of it traced to a source. It has been removed rather than rephrased, and the destination pages now carry bookable experiences priced by the operator instead.
Show the working. In the guidebooks, every venue carries a link to the business's own website and the date it was checked, and the failures are named rather than quietly dropped. The destination pages on this site do not carry dates yet. They should, and that is on the list.
Editorial Policy
Our editorial recommendations are independent. Agents pay for visibility on TravelBlis (directory listings, featured placement, destination sponsorships), but paid placement is always labelled. Our editorial content - destination guides, comparisons, pricing benchmarks - is never influenced by advertising relationships.
We earn commission on experiences booked through Viator from our destination pages, and on books bought through Amazon. Those links are marked where they appear. They do not influence what we recommend, and we do not take a booking here: the transaction happens on the partner's site, not ours.
What we will not tell you
What a villa costs. Rental pricing moves by property, week, agent and year in ways no article can honestly generalise, and the version of this site that generalised did it with numbers nobody had measured. Get quotes for your actual dates and compare those.
Opening hours a business has not published itself. Across several hundred venue websites we opened and read while researching the guidebooks, third-party opening hours were the least reliable category of information we tested. During Tuscany research a mapped listing showed a Chianti restaurant open through the winter when its own site says it shuts from December to February. A reader following that listing drives to a closed door.
Ratings and awards without a link and a year. Michelin stars change annually, and an out-of-date one is an error a reader can catch in a single search.
