Chalet Plantret takes a different approach to Courchevel luxury: instead of polished marble and gold fixtures, the property embraces the forest setting with a biophilic design that blurs the boundary between architecture and nature. The chalet sits in the Plantret woodland between Courchevel 1850 and Le Praz, surrounded by spruce and larch trees that are visible from every room through floor-to-ceiling glass. Two of the six bedrooms are elevated treehouse structures connected to the main building by enclosed glass bridges, offering the experience of sleeping among the treetops. The main house is built from untreated larch timber and local stone, with living moss walls in the entrance hall, a green roof planted with alpine meadow species, and a natural swimming pond instead of a conventional pool. The pond, filtered by a biological system of gravel beds and aquatic plants, is usable from June through September and freezes to a skating surface in deep winter. A separate heated plunge pool provides warmth year-round. Four bedrooms occupy the main house: the master with a glass wall facing the forest, two doubles, and a children's room. The two treehouse suites, each 30 square metres, are reached by the glass bridges and feature beds positioned at the canopy level with nothing but glass between sleeper and sky. The living room centres on a wood-burning stove made from weathered steel, with seating arranged to face both the fire and the forest view. The chef specialises in a foraging-influenced cuisine, incorporating wild herbs, mushrooms, and berries from the surrounding forest into menus that change with the seasons. The Plantret forest location is a 3-minute drive to either Le Praz or the Chenus chairlift in 1850. Cross-country skiing trails and snowshoe paths pass directly by the property in winter.
