The Jardin Alpin is Courchevel 1850's quietest and most private address, home to a handful of chalets set among snow-covered pines. This property was rebuilt in 2020 with triple-glazed windows, underfloor heating throughout, and a boot room that opens onto a private piste connecting to the main ski area. The living room ceiling is clad in 200-year-old barn wood sourced from a Savoyard farmhouse. The Jardin Alpin neighbourhood sits slightly above the main village of Courchevel 1850, accessed by a private road. The chalets here are set far apart among mature pine trees, and the sense of privacy is remarkable for a resort that can feel busy during peak weeks. Snow lies thicker in the Jardin Alpin because the trees shelter it from sun and wind, and the landscape has a Nordic quality - silent, white, and still. The 2020 rebuild was undertaken by a Savoyard construction firm with a reputation for precision. The triple-glazed windows maintain internal temperatures even in the coldest January weeks, and the underfloor heating extends to every room including the bathrooms, boot room, and the covered terrace. The 200-year-old barn wood ceiling in the living room was the architect's signature decision: each plank was catalogued, cleaned, and reinstalled in its original configuration, bringing the warmth and patina of two centuries of Savoyard agricultural life into a thoroughly modern space. Six bedrooms occupy two upper levels. The layout includes a master suite with a mountain-facing balcony and a freestanding bathtub, two interconnecting rooms for families, and three independent suites for adult guests. All feature hand-waxed timber panelling, Swiss mattresses, and down duvets rated for alpine winters. The private piste connection from the boot room is the chalet's practical highlight. A short run through the trees connects to the Bellecote piste and the main 3 Vallees ski area without touching a public road or a gondola queue. At the end of the day, the same run brings you back to the door. The piste is groomed by the resort maintenance team and lit until 7pm during peak weeks. A team of five manages the chalet during the winter season: a chef, a host/butler, a housekeeper, a driver, and a dedicated ski concierge. The chef's menus emphasise the Savoyard tradition - tartiflette, raclette, and fondue nights are interspersed with lighter Mediterranean-influenced dishes. The driver operates a Mercedes V-Class for airport transfers (Chambery is 90 minutes; Geneva is 2.5 hours) and trips into the village for shopping or dining at restaurants like Le 1947 or Azimut.
