Chalk Sound is one of the Caribbean's most extraordinary natural features - a shallow turquoise lagoon scattered with small rocky cays that turns electric blue in afternoon light. Villa Chalk Sound sits on the lagoon's southern shore, with a dock, two kayaks, and a paddleboard for exploring the cays. The design is modern Caribbean: white rendered walls, polished concrete floors, and floor-to-ceiling glass facing the lagoon. Chalk Sound National Park is a protected marine area, and its shallow lagoon contains some of the most vivid turquoise water in the Caribbean. The colour is a result of the lagoon's white limestone bed, shallow depth (rarely more than 2 metres), and the way sunlight interacts with the dissolved calcium carbonate. On a calm afternoon, the water turns a shade of electric blue that photographs struggle to reproduce accurately. Villa Chalk Sound faces this view from its entire southern elevation. The rocky cays scattered across the lagoon are uninhabited and accessible only by kayak or paddleboard. There are approximately a dozen within easy paddling distance of the villa's dock, each a small outcrop of limestone covered in scrub vegetation. Kayaking between the cays in the early morning, when the water is glass-calm and the light is low, is one of the more meditative experiences available in the Caribbean. The property provides two kayaks and a paddleboard, stored at the dock. Five bedrooms are arranged in an L-shape facing the lagoon. The master suite occupies the corner, with floor-to-ceiling glass on two sides and a private terrace extending over the water. Three bedrooms face the lagoon directly; one faces the garden at the rear, offering quiet and shade. All have ensuite bathrooms with walk-in rainfall showers and locally made coral stone vanity tops. The modern Caribbean design is clean but not cold. White rendered walls are softened by natural wood accents - teak shutters, mahogany door frames, and driftwood artwork sourced from the island's beaches. Polished concrete floors stay cool underfoot throughout the day. The open-plan living and dining area connects to a covered terrace through folding glass doors, effectively doubling the living space when the weather cooperates - which in Turks and Caicos is roughly 350 days a year. The pool sits between the house and the lagoon, finished in dark blue mosaic tile that echoes the water beyond. A covered outdoor kitchen with a gas grill and bar seating accommodates casual meals and sundowner cocktails. Chalk Sound's southern position on Providenciales means that it catches fewer of the trade winds that blow across the north shore, making the water calmer and the evenings warmer. Grace Bay restaurants are a 15-minute drive; the airport is 20 minutes.
