Chalet Mont Gele

Chalet Mont Gele is named after the peak that defines Verbier's freeride reputation - the 3,023-metre summit whose couloirs and steep faces attract expert skiers from around the world. The chalet sits on the hillside above the Savoleyres sector, Verbier's quieter family-friendly side, but its orientation and its dedicated ski guide place it firmly in the freeride universe. The chalet comes with a qualified UIAGM mountain guide for the duration of each stay. The guide, a Verbier local with two decades of backcountry experience, plans each day according to conditions: fresh snow on Mont Gele's north face, spring corn on the Glacier de Tortin, tree runs through the forest above La Tzoumaz, or heli-skiing drops on the Rosablanche when conditions align. This personalised guiding transforms a ski holiday from navigation to mastery. Five bedrooms are finished in a pared-back Alpine style: oiled larch floors, lime-washed walls, custom bunk beds in the children's rooms, and mountain views from every window. The master suite includes a private balcony and a copper soaking tub. Bathrooms feature Italian porcelain and rainfall showers. The ground floor includes an apres-ski bar, complete with a zinc-topped counter, draught beer taps, and a wall-mounted screen for reviewing the day's GoPro footage. The bar opens onto a terrace with a hot tub and fire pit, where afternoons tend to extend well into the evening. A resident chef prepares breakfast and dinner, with menus that shift between hearty Alpine cuisine (raclette, fondue, tartiflette) and lighter modern dishes. Lunch is typically taken on the mountain at one of Verbier's hut restaurants, with the guide's recommendations forming part of the day's plan. The Savoleyres lift is a 3-minute drive or a 10-minute walk. Verbier village centre is 5 minutes by car.
