Chalet La Combe is not a single building but a compound of four traditional mazots - the small wooden granaries and barns that dot the Valais landscape - relocated to a plot in Verbier's peaceful La Combe neighbourhood and connected by covered walkways around a central courtyard. Each mazot has been individually restored and functions as an independent two-bedroom unit with its own living room, kitchenette, and entrance, while the courtyard and a shared spa building provide communal spaces. This compound format solves a problem that conventional chalets cannot: accommodating a group of couples or families who want to socialise but don't want to share a living space. Each mazot has its own character - one has a wood-burning stove, another has a private balcony, a third has a loft bedroom accessible by a ladder - and guests can choose their unit according to preference. The central spa building, a contemporary glass and timber pavilion, contains a 12-metre pool, a Finnish sauna, an infrared cabin, and a relaxation room with heated stone beds. The courtyard between the mazots is strung with lights and equipped with an outdoor fireplace, functioning as the compound's social hub for drinks and evening gatherings. A resident chef serves breakfast in each mazot and communal dinner in the largest unit's dining room, which seats 16 around a single table of reclaimed walnut. Menus follow the Valaisan tradition: raclette with potatoes and cornichons, dried meat from the Entremont valley, and desserts incorporating the local apricots and pears. The Medran gondola is a 10-minute walk through the village. La Combe's position on Verbier's quieter eastern side means minimal traffic and a genuine Alpine village atmosphere. The compound is equally popular in summer, when the courtyard becomes an outdoor dining room and the walking trails of the Val de Bagnes begin at the doorstep.
