Casa Na Xamena is a 19th-century finca rebuilt with the island's original sabina wood beams and hand-cut Mares stone. The property sits in 12 acres of pine forest on the northern hillside above Port de Sant Miquel. Four bedroom suites open onto private terraces, and the kitchen garden supplies the on-site chef with herbs, citrus, and seasonal vegetables throughout the summer months. The restoration took three years and was guided by a single principle: use what the island provides. The sabina wood - Ibiza's native juniper, prized for its resistance to rot and its warm, resinous scent - was salvaged from decommissioned fishermen's boat sheds along the coast. The Mares stone, a soft golden sandstone quarried on the island for centuries, forms the walls and the broad arched doorways that connect the living spaces. The result is a property that feels as though it has grown from the hillside rather than been placed upon it. Each of the four bedroom suites occupies a corner of the house, ensuring privacy and cross-ventilation. The master suite takes the northeast corner, with a freestanding bathtub positioned in front of a window framing the sea and the pine canopy. Two suites share a children's courtyard at the back, making the layout particularly suitable for families with younger children who want contained outdoor space. The kitchen garden is a working operation, not decorative landscaping. Raised beds of rosemary, thyme, basil, and sage sit alongside lemon trees, orange trees, and a productive vegetable patch that yields tomatoes, courgettes, and peppers through the summer. The chef - who has cooked on the island for 15 years - builds evening menus around whatever the garden and the Sant Miquel fishermen produce that morning. Benirras beach is a five-minute drive down a winding lane through the pine forest. The beach is famous for its Sunday sunset drum circles, but during the week it is one of the quieter stretches of sand on the island. The property provides beach chairs and a cooler packed with water and fruit for day trips. The surrounding area represents Ibiza's least developed coast. San Juan, the nearest village, has a Saturday morning farmers' market that is genuinely local rather than tourist-oriented. The drive to Ibiza town takes 35 minutes along the northern road, passing through San Lorenzo and the Santa Gertrudis plateau.
