Villa Holders Hill is a restored 18th-century plantation house on ten acres of gardens, orchards, and woodland in the Holders Hill area between Holetown and Sandy Lane. The property has been in continuous occupation since 1740, and the current restoration - completed in 2022 - preserves the Georgian coral stone architecture while adding every modern comfort a GBP 15,000-per-night guest expects. The great house has six bedrooms arranged across two floors, each named after a Barbados parish and furnished with a mix of Caribbean antiques and contemporary pieces. The primary suite occupies the former plantation owner's quarters on the upper floor, with a four-poster mahogany bed, freestanding copper bath, and a veranda overlooking the gardens and distant sea. Original features include coral stone walls two feet thick, mahogany window shutters, and a central hallway designed to channel trade winds through the house. The grounds are the real treasure. Mature mahogany trees, bread fruit, and mango trees shade the lawns. A walled garden produces herbs, vegetables, and tropical fruit for the kitchen. The swimming pool is hidden in a clearing surrounded by croton and hibiscus, accessible via a coral stone path from the house. A tennis court sits at the edge of the orchard. The property is the venue for the annual Holders Season performing arts festival, and the amphitheatre in the grounds can be made available for private events. The villa comes with a staff of five: chef, butler, two housekeepers, and a gardener who has tended these grounds for thirty years and can identify every plant. Holetown's restaurants and shops are a ten-minute drive. Sandy Lane's beach and golf are fifteen minutes away. The villa provides a vintage Land Rover and driver for beach trips and excursions.
