Villa Colombier faces the uninhabited bay of Colombier - reachable only by boat or a 30-minute hike - from a vantage point that catches both morning sun and Caribbean sunsets. The architecture is deliberately restrained: white rendered walls, natural stone floors, and frameless glass panels that make the view the only decoration. The outdoor living area, shaded by a mature flamboyant tree, is where most guests spend the majority of their stay. Colomber is St Barts' hidden corner. The bay that gives the villa its name has no road access, no buildings on its shoreline, and water so clear that the turtles feeding on the seagrass are visible from the hillside above. It can be reached by a 30-minute hike along a coastal trail from the road's end, or by boat from Gustavia. The villa's position on the hill above the bay means that the view extends from Colombier Bay to the island of Saint Martin on the northern horizon. The architecture is a study in restraint. White rendered walls, natural stone floors quarried in the Dominican Republic, and frameless glass panels that disappear into the walls when open. There are no curtains - the privacy comes from the elevation and the landscape rather than from fabric. The design philosophy is that the view should be the decoration, and the architecture should do nothing to compete with it. The result is a property that feels spacious, calm, and deeply connected to its surroundings. Four bedrooms are arranged in an L-shape around the main pool. Each has glass walls on two sides, an ensuite bathroom with an outdoor shower, and direct access to the pool deck. The master bedroom has a king bed positioned to face the sunrise over the Caribbean, and a private terrace at the far end of the L that provides separation from the other rooms. The outdoor living area under the mature flamboyant tree is where the villa's daily life unfolds. The tree, estimated at over 60 years old, provides natural shade over a seating and dining area that comfortably accommodates eight. When the tree blooms in summer, its scarlet flowers create a canopy that is one of the most photographed features in St Barts real estate. The complimentary Mini Cooper is parked at the property and available for the duration of each stay. St Barts is small enough - 25 square kilometres - that a car reaches any point on the island in 15 minutes. Gustavia is a seven-minute drive for dining, shopping, and harbour-side cocktails. Shell Beach and St Jean Beach are both within 10 minutes. The concierge arranges boat charters, restaurant reservations, and provisioning from the Gustavia markets.
