Positioned directly on the turquoise bay that gives it its name, Villa Cala di Volpe was designed by a Milanese studio to frame the water from every room. Floor-to-ceiling windows angle toward the bay, and a series of stone terraces step down to a private sandy beach. The property includes a granite-lined spa with steam room, and a covered outdoor dining area seats 14 for waterside entertaining. Cala di Volpe - "Fox Bay" in the local Gallurese dialect - is one of the Costa Smeralda's most beautiful natural inlets. The water here transitions from shallow turquoise near the shore to deep sapphire where the bay meets the open sea. The villa is positioned on the bay's southern shore, catching morning sun from sunrise and afternoon shade from the hillside behind - an orientation that works perfectly with the Mediterranean summer rhythm. The Milanese studio designed the villa in 2019 with a single brief: make every room about the water. The result is a property where floor-to-ceiling windows are angled five degrees toward the bay, drawing the eye to the sea regardless of where you stand. Internal walls are minimal - the living, dining, and kitchen areas flow into each other as a single space that extends onto the main terrace through retractable glass doors. Five bedrooms occupy a separate wing connected to the main living area by a covered walkway. Each room has a slightly different angle on the bay, and the architect claims no two rooms see the same view. The master suite is at the wing's end, with glass on three sides and a freestanding bathtub positioned at the window. All bathrooms are finished in local granite with walk-in rainfall showers. The private beach is reached by a series of stone terraces that step down the hillside through a garden of rosemary, myrtle, and ornamental grasses. The beach itself is a crescent of fine white sand, approximately 30 metres long, with loungers, a shade structure, and a freshwater shower. The water is clear and calm, deepening gradually - ideal for children and snorkelling. A set of paddleboards and snorkelling equipment is kept at the beach. The granite-lined spa occupies a semi-subterranean level carved into the hillside. The steam room, with its vaulted granite ceiling, feels like a natural cave. A treatment room is available for visiting therapists, and a relaxation area with heated loungers overlooks a small interior courtyard planted with ferns and bamboo. The covered outdoor dining terrace, positioned just above the beach, seats 14 at a granite table under a pergola of white bougainvillea.
